Settings

Settings has three tabs: Preferences, Help & Support and About.

Preferences

Appearance

Section titled “Appearance”

Select Change theme to pick from nine themes: Default, Phosphor, Tape Hiss, Neon Rack, Studio Daylight, Mono, Oxide, Vapor and Parchment. The picker previews each one as you go. The button in the header switches between light and dark, for themes that have both.

Accessibility

Section titled “Accessibility”
  • Colourblind palette adjusts the status colours in every theme for protanopia, deuteranopia or tritanopia, or switches to high contrast.
  • Font size makes all text larger: Default, Large or Larger.

Privacy

Section titled “Privacy”

Send anonymous usage analytics is off until you switch it on. When it’s on, the app sends which features you use, the app version, your operating system and error reports. It never sends personal data, file names or audio. The privacy policy has the details.

Updates

Section titled “Updates”

On desktop and Android, Check for updates automatically looks for a new version each time the app starts. It’s on to begin with. Check for updates checks straight away.

When there’s a new version, the app shows what’s new:

  • On desktop, Download Update saves the installer to your Downloads folder and checks it, then Open Installer runs it.
  • On Android, Download Update opens the new APK in your browser. Tap it to install when it finishes downloading.
  • On iPhone and iPad, updates come from the App Store.

Later hides that version for a week.

Guided Tour

Section titled “Guided Tour”

Show the tour runs the first-launch walkthrough of the Studio, Transfer and Library again.

Help & Support

Section titled “Help & Support”
  • Documentation opens these docs.
  • Replay the tour runs the walkthrough again.
  • Join Discord opens the SquareWave Studio community.
  • Email Support starts an email to support@squarewave.studio. Copy Address copies the address instead.

About

Section titled “About”

The About tab shows your version, and has:

  • Acknowledgements:
    • libpo32 by Eric Lewis, the engine behind the transfers and the synth.
    • The Pocket Operator reverse-engineering community.
    • Sonic Charge Microtonic, for sound and patch format compatibility.
    • Zack Scholl’s supertonic, the reference for reading Microtonic presets.
  • Legal: the interoperability and trademark notices.
  • Open Source Licences: the licences of the software PO-PatchStudio is built with.
