On Your Phone

PO-PatchStudio runs on iPhone and Android phones as well as desktop and iPad. On a phone it has its own layout, built for playing the faceplate with your thumbs. iPads and larger Android tablets use the desktop layout.

Getting Around

The bar along the bottom has Studio, Transfer, Library and Settings, plus All Tools. From All Tools you can choose which four shortcuts sit in the bar.

Play the Faceplate Fullscreen

Tap the fullscreen button above the faceplate, or long-press any pad, to fill the screen with the PO-32’s faceplate. It works like the hardware: see The Studio. Tap the X, or use the Android back button, to leave.

Design Sounds in the Drawer

In the fullscreen view, swipe up from the bottom (or tap the handle) to open the sound tools drawer.

  • The arrows either side of the voice name step through the 16 voices, and the play button previews the voice.
  • The Morph slider moves between the voice’s A and B sounds.
  • Osc, Noise, Mix and Vel switch between the parameter pages. You can also swipe sideways on an empty part of the drawer.
  • Tap any readout to type an exact value.

Long-pressing a pad in sound mode opens the drawer straight away. Swipe down to close it.

Send From Your Phone

A phone makes a handy transmitter: open Transfer, choose what to send, hold the phone’s speaker next to the PO-32’s microphone and play the transfer. Turn the volume up, and switch off any audio effects on the phone first. Sending to the PO-32 has the full steps.

On Android, the list of inputs for recording a backup names the phone’s microphones plainly, such as Phone microphone (default) and Wired headset mic.

The Library on a Phone

Library items show as cards, with Audition, Load in Studio and Play transfer buttons. The menu on each card has the rest. Sort with the Name and Saved buttons and the arrow next to them.
