Download and Install

PO-PatchStudio is free on desktop, iPhone, iPad and Android. Pick your platform below, then follow the install steps.

Each link points at the latest release. You can browse every published version and its checksums at downloads.squarewave.studio/po-patchstudio/versions.

Install

Section titled “Install”

macOS

Section titled “macOS”
  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file.
  2. Drag PO-PatchStudio to your Applications folder.
  3. Launch it from Applications or Launchpad.

Windows

Section titled “Windows”
  1. Run the downloaded installer and follow the setup wizard.
  2. Launch PO-PatchStudio from the Start menu.

Linux

Section titled “Linux”

  • AppImage: make it executable and run it directly:

    chmod +x PO-PatchStudio-*.AppImage
    ./PO-PatchStudio-*.AppImage

  • Debian / Ubuntu (.deb): install it, or double-click the file:

    sudo dpkg -i po-patchstudio_*.deb

iPhone and iPad

Section titled “iPhone and iPad”

Install PO-PatchStudio from the App Store. It needs iOS 15 or later. The same App Store build also runs on Macs with Apple silicon.

Android

Section titled “Android”

Sideload the APK: download it to your device, then open it and allow installation from your browser or file manager when prompted. PO-PatchStudio is coming to Google Play too.

System Requirements

  • macOS: macOS 11 Big Sur or later (Intel or Apple silicon).
  • Windows: Windows 10 or later, 64-bit.
  • Linux: a distribution with glibc 2.35 or newer (Ubuntu 22.04 or later).
  • iPhone and iPad: iOS 15 or later.
  • Android: Android 7.0 or later.
  • Audio: a speaker or output to play transfers into the PO-32, and a microphone or audio interface to capture data dumps back from it. You only need audio input if you plan to record from the device.

First Launch

Section titled “First Launch”

A short tour shows you around the Studio, Transfer & Import and the Library. You can run it again any time from Settings.

The first time you open Transfer & Import, your system asks to let PO-PatchStudio use the microphone. You only need it to record backups from the PO-32. Designing sounds and sending them to the device work without it.

Updates

Section titled “Updates”

On desktop and Android, PO-PatchStudio checks for a new version when it starts and offers to download it. On iPhone and iPad, updates come from the App Store. Settings has the options.
