My Device Doesn’t Show Up
Section titled “My Device Doesn’t Show Up”- On Windows, the OP-XY, OP-1 Field and TP-7 don’t connect yet. Export from the app and copy the files to your device the usual way.
- Quit Teenage Engineering’s Field Kit, the TP-7 app and any other app that might be holding the device. Could not open the device usually means another app has it.
- Check the device is in its file mode, not its MIDI mode. The key combinations are in Connecting Your Devices.
- Try another USB cable (some only charge) or another port.
- On Linux, check the USB permissions.
- Connect one device at a time.
My Preset Doesn’t Show Up on the OP-XY
Section titled “My Preset Doesn’t Show Up on the OP-XY”Check that you copied it the way Copying to Your Device describes.
The Trial Didn’t Start
Section titled “The Trial Didn’t Start”Starting the trial needs an internet connection once. Connect, then open the app again.
Memos Can’t Find Any Speech
Section titled “Memos Can’t Find Any Speech”Open the memo and select Transcribe Again Without Skipping Silence. Quiet recordings are more likely to be skipped.
The Speech Pack Won’t Download
Section titled “The Speech Pack Won’t Download”The download needs an internet connection, and All languages is 574 MB. If it keeps failing, try English only (60 MB).
Send Me a Diagnostic File
Section titled “Send Me a Diagnostic File”If something goes wrong, a diagnostic file helps me see what happened.
- Open Settings > Help & Support.
- Select Export Diagnostic Logs and save the ZIP. It holds the app’s logs from the last few days and basic details about your computer. It doesn’t include your audio.
- Email it to support@squarewave.studio with a line about what you were doing.
If you’d rather look yourself, the log file is session.log:

Why is it a paid beta?
Section titled “Why is it a paid beta?”The tools in this release work today, and I’d rather ship them than hold them back. “Beta” means more keep arriving: each release adds to the app, and the changelog shows what changed. The Pro trial lets you try everything before you pay.
Can it send presets or tapes straight to my device?
Section titled “Can it send presets or tapes straight to my device?”Not in this release. Every tool saves to your computer, then you copy the result to your device. Copying to Your Device shows how.
Does it make presets for the OP-1, OP-1 Field or OP-Z?
Section titled “Does it make presets for the OP-1, OP-1 Field or OP-Z?”Not yet. The Sample Editor and Drum Tool make OP-XY presets. Presets for the OP-1, OP-1 Field and OP-Z are next on my list.
Is there a phone or iPad version?
Section titled “Is there a phone or iPad version?”Not yet. OP-PatchStudio runs on macOS, Windows and Linux.
Does Memos upload my recordings?
Section titled “Does Memos upload my recordings?”No. Transcription runs on your computer. Memos downloads its speech pack from Hugging Face once, and your recordings and transcripts stay on your computer.
How do I turn off analytics?
Section titled “How do I turn off analytics?”Open Settings > Preferences > Privacy & Updates and switch off Help Make OP-PatchStudio Better. The privacy policy has the details.
Is OP-PatchStudio made by Teenage Engineering?
