Licence and Pro
Sample and preset creation in OP-PatchStudio is always free, starting with the OP-XY. Pro adds the Tape Editor and Memos, and you can try it free for 14 days, with no sign-up and no card.

The Free Trial
Section titled “The Free Trial”Every Pro tool is unlocked for 14 days from the first time you open the app. There’s no email or card to enter. The bar at the bottom of the window counts down the days, and Settings > Licence shows the date it ends.
When the trial ends, the app offers 14 more days, once. Enter your email address, and I’ll send you a one-time code. Paste it into the Extension code box and select Apply code. If you already have a code, select Already got a code? Enter it here in the same window.
After the trial, the Tape Editor locks and Memos stops transcribing new recordings. Your tapes and memos stay where they are, and the free tools keep working.
Buying Pro
Section titled “Buying Pro”When the public beta opens, Pro is pay what you want, from $39, paid once. There’s no subscription.
- One licence works on up to 5 computers, on any mix of macOS, Windows and Linux.
- Every price gets the same features. Paying more is a way to support the work.
- If Pro isn’t right for you, the refund policy gives you 14 days to ask for your money back.
Once it’s on sale, select Buy Pro in the app, or go to the OP-PatchStudio page. Your licence key arrives by email.
Activate Your Licence
Section titled “Activate Your Licence”- Open Settings > Licence.
- Select Enter Licence Key and paste the key from your email.
- Select Activate.
Activation needs an internet connection once. After that, Pro works offline.
A licence key works for the app it was bought for. If you enter a key for a different SquareWave app, you’ll see This licence key is for a different SquareWave app. That doesn’t use up one of the key’s activations. If the app can’t check which app a key belongs to, it asks you to try again.
Move to Another Computer
Section titled “Move to Another Computer”Each computer you activate uses one of your 5 activations. To free one up:
- On the computer you’re leaving, open Settings > Licence > Manage Licence.
- Select the red deactivate button on this computer’s row, then confirm with Deactivate This Device.
- Activate on the new computer with the same key.
If you’ve already used all 5 and can’t reach an old computer, the app shows Activation Limit Reached. Select Open Customer Portal, deactivate a device there, then try again.
