Copying to Your Device

OP-PatchStudio saves everything to your computer: presets, tapes and transcripts. You then copy the result to your device, and copy recordings off it, the usual way for that device. This page covers each one. I’m checking the exact steps for each device on the hardware, and I’ll add them here as they’re confirmed.

OP-XY Presets

The Sample Editor and Drum Tool save a preset as a ZIP. Unzip it, then add the preset to your OP-XY the way you’d add any preset, following Teenage Engineering’s OP-XY guide.

OP-1 Field Tapes

To edit a tape, copy its folder off the Field first. Put the Field in its file (MTP) mode by holding shift and com and pressing T4, then copy the tape folder to your computer. Open that folder in the Tape Editor.

When you’ve finished, save the tape in the OP-1 Field Tape format. Step-by-step instructions for copying an edited tape back to the Field will follow here once they’ve been checked on the device.

TP-7 Recordings

Switch the TP-7 to its file mode and copy the recordings you want onto your computer. The Tape Editor opens TP-7 multitrack recordings, and Memos transcribes voice memos.

OP-Z and Original OP-1

Both show up as a USB drive, so you can copy files with Finder, File Explorer or your file manager.

OP-Z: hold track while powering on to mount the content disk.
Original OP-1: hold shift and com, then press T3 for disk mode. Tapes saved with the Original OP-1 Tape format in the Tape Editor are AIFF files for it.

Eject the drive before you unplug the device. On Windows, use Safely Remove Hardware.
