Transferring to the PO-32
The PO-32 has no USB data connection. It moves patches as sound. PO-PatchStudio builds a transfer, plays it into the PO-32’s microphone, and can record the device’s data dump back and decode it into your kit. This all happens in the Transfer & Import view.
Send to the PO-32
Section titled “Send to the PO-32”- In Transfer & Import, choose what to send under Send to PO-32: a kit, a single voice or a pattern.
- Put the PO-32 into receive mode: hold function and press write on the device.
- Press Play transfer. PO-PatchStudio plays the encoded burst out of your computer’s audio output.
- Hold the output close to the PO-32’s microphone and play the transfer at a high, clean volume, loud enough to be heard clearly, but not so loud that it distorts.
When the device has received the data, the sound lands on the PO-32.
Export a WAV instead
Section titled “Export a WAV instead”If you would rather transfer later, or from another device, press Export WAV. That saves the transfer as an audio file you can play into the PO-32 whenever you like.
Tips for a clean transfer
Section titled “Tips for a clean transfer”- Use your device’s own sample rate to avoid the operating system resampling the audio.
- Turn off any effects, EQ or “enhancements” on your output so the burst is played back cleanly.
- Keep background noise down while the transfer plays.
Get sounds back from the PO-32
Section titled “Get sounds back from the PO-32”Everything comes back from the device as audio too. Under Get from PO-32:
- Choose your input device (a microphone or an audio interface).
- Press Record, then trigger the transfer on the PO-32.
- PO-PatchStudio decodes the captured audio back into voices and patterns you can load into the Studio or save to the library.
You can also press Open transfer WAV to decode a recording you saved earlier.
Partial captures
Section titled “Partial captures”If a capture drops out part way through, PO-PatchStudio recovers what it can and tells you honestly which sounds came back and which were lost, so you know exactly what you have.
Backup and restore
Section titled “Backup and restore”Backup and restore are acoustic too. The PO-32’s own “write and sound” data dump is a full copy of the instrument, emitted as audio. Record or import that dump, and PO-PatchStudio decodes it to verify it, then stores it in your library as a backup. Restore by replaying the audio to the device. This works unit to unit as well: one PO-32’s dump can be restored to another.
Import and export Microtonic patches
Section titled “Import and export Microtonic patches”PO-PatchStudio reads Sonic Charge Microtonic files so you can bring those sounds to the PO-32:
.mtdrum: a single drum patch. Load it, or paste the patch text, into a voice..mtpreset: eight drums. Load it into either half of the kit; two presets build a full kit.
You can also send a voice out as a .mtdrum, or a whole kit as a .mtpreset. These are your own
files, so the app does not include or redistribute any Sonic Charge content.
