PO-PatchStudio
PO-PatchStudio is a free app for the Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator PO-32 Tonic. It lets you design drum sounds and patterns on a bigger screen, then move them to and from the hardware over the PO-32’s own acoustic transfer.
It is built on the open-source libpo32 engine, which provides the PO-32 transfer stack and the drum synth used for previews.
What you can do
Section titled “What you can do”- Design voices with the full 21-parameter Tonic drum synth, including the A/B morph.
- Sequence patterns on a four-lane, 16-step grid that mirrors the PO-32’s four voices.
- Transfer over audio: send kits, voices and patterns to the PO-32, and capture its data dump back.
- Import Microtonic patches: bring in Sonic Charge
.mtdrumand.mtpresetfiles. - Keep a library of kits, voices, patterns and full device backups.
Which devices are supported
Section titled “Which devices are supported”Today PO-PatchStudio supports the PO-32 Tonic only. The PO-33 K.O! and PO-35 Speak are on the roadmap, not promised. See the FAQ for the honest state of play.
Get started
Section titled “Get started”- Download and install for your platform.
- Learn your way around the Studio.
- Transfer a sound to your PO-32.
A note on previews
Section titled “A note on previews”Audio previews are rendered by the libpo32 synth, so they are close to but not bit-identical with the hardware. Anything you transfer plays through the PO-32’s own engine and sounds correct on the device.
PO-PatchStudio is free, with no licence, trial or in-app purchase. It is developed independently for interoperability and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Teenage Engineering AB or Sonic Charge / NuEdge Development AB.
