PO-PatchStudio

PO-PatchStudio is a free app for the Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator PO-32 Tonic. It lets you design drum sounds and patterns on a bigger screen, then move them to and from the hardware over the PO-32’s own acoustic transfer.

It is built on the open-source libpo32 engine, which provides the PO-32 transfer stack and the drum synth used for previews.

  • Design voices with the full 21-parameter Tonic drum synth, including the A/B morph.
  • Sequence patterns on a four-lane, 16-step grid that mirrors the PO-32’s four voices.
  • Transfer over audio: send kits, voices and patterns to the PO-32, and capture its data dump back.
  • Import Microtonic patches: bring in Sonic Charge .mtdrum and .mtpreset files.
  • Keep a library of kits, voices, patterns and full device backups.

Today PO-PatchStudio supports the PO-32 Tonic only. The PO-33 K.O! and PO-35 Speak are on the roadmap, not promised. See the FAQ for the honest state of play.

  1. Download and install for your platform.
  2. Learn your way around the Studio.
  3. Transfer a sound to your PO-32.

Audio previews are rendered by the libpo32 synth, so they are close to but not bit-identical with the hardware. Anything you transfer plays through the PO-32’s own engine and sounds correct on the device.

PO-PatchStudio is free, with no licence, trial or in-app purchase. It is developed independently for interoperability and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Teenage Engineering AB or Sonic Charge / NuEdge Development AB.
